POET OF SITUATIONS

POET OF SITUATIONS

As fledglings caught in wildfire
perched in the poem
mother bird brushes its beak
against poet's fingers.

As drowned companion
and fisherman lost in the seas
resurrect in verse
salt water soaks his bosom.

Childhood nodding to granny tales
and youthful quest of camaraderie
join in dance of metaphors
to turn through leaves
of variegated colors
in the book of life.

Expectations of love
and sighs of rejection
throb in lines
clouding rainbows.

Paying poetic homage
to mother who proceeded
from ventilator to white shroud
and father who didn't wake up
one fine morning,
son's shadow lends him myopic.

When he baptizes her,
the ravaged, in verse,
his daughter burns in fever.

As furnace-like streets of hate
emit smell of burning flesh,
poet's sepulcher catch fire.

Settling scores with rotten age,
poet puts on sheep skin
to snow peaks of compromise.
