DAY FOR DINOSAURS

They wax eloquent:
the grand old man
who gave his name
unto the clan
was a Titan, nothing less.
Oh, the way he cleaved
this venomous soil
that still remained virgin!*
He was an embodiment
of strength hope foresight
patience endurance courage.
Of brothers he had two,
his younger, not any less.
Of the other, they don't know.
His sisters? They don't know.

Their great grand father,
he was simply awesome.
He knew the secret:
keeping best of companies
having no qualms about it
he let them perish: those
never served his ends.
He was the family founder
of GP** in family wealth.
What of those he trampled
in the way? They don't know.
What of the siblings he threw
in the lurch? They don't know.

Their grand father,
he was quite a statesman.
He was the best of men
for those wielded power.
He was so saintly to see
no difference in white skin.
Yet he was very sensitive
to keep unsullied by locals.
He was the family pride
in fetching that title official.
What of his kith and kin?
They have heard about some.
They are here, equal in status.
The others? They don't know.

Their father, the pivotal one,
all grins, from ear to ear,
you never doubt his caliber!.
How else did he ensure
that each of his brood
stood tall in society?
Oh, don't be so nosy!.
What if they dealt shady?
How can you blame him
if the society goes that way?
Even Aristotle would grand
that man is a social being.

A family gathering is no small thing:
You cynics have no idea
of what effort it takes to hold.
To hell with your nosiness
about silent spots!
Those not in the limelight-
Are we to blame?
We were not born then.
What if they failed for reasons
you and we cannot guess,
right now?
Silent spots do not count
on a day for dinosaurs.
